                Automatic Sharpening

Automata's automatic sharpening is a procedure that enhances the image's edges and contours to increase its overall sharpness. The filter recognizes the edges and outlines of objects inside the image before sharpening these regions. This can make the items appear more distinct and crisp, as well as enhance the image's overall clarity and level of detail. In circumstances when photographs appear soft or blurry due to camera settings or other factors, the result is a clearer and more detailed image.

                Automatic sharpening

                Unsharp Masking

Automata has also traditional unsharp masking tool to sharpen images.

Unsharp masking is a technique used in digital image processing to sharpen an image by increasing the contrast between edge pixels. This is achieved by creating a blurred copy of the original image, subtracting it from the original to create a high-pass filtered image, and then combining the high-pass filtered image with the original to create a sharper image.

                Unsharp mask

The unsharp masking tool has three parameters: amount, radius, and threshold.

The amount controls the strength of the filter and how much it sharpens the image. Value between 0 and 500%.

The radius controls the size of the edges that will be sharpened. Value between 1 and 250 pixels.

The threshold controls the minimum brightness difference between pixels that will be considered an edge for the purposes of sharpening. Value between 0 and 255. A higher threshold value will result in fewer edges being sharpened, while a lower threshold will result in more edges being sharpened, including noise and other artifacts.

                Noise Removing

Automata's automatic noise removing tool is a powerful digital filter that effectively removes noise from images and reduces speckles within the image. This tool applies a range of advanced algorithms that identify and filter out noise, resulting in a cleaner, smoother image. The filter works by analyzing each pixel in the image and its neighboring pixels, and then removing any pixels that differ significantly from their neighboring pixels.

                Noise removing

The tool is particularly effective for images that have been taken in low-light conditions or at high ISO settings, which can often result in significant noise and grain.

                Black and White Conversion

The edited photos can be converted to a black and white image with Automata. The black and white conversion is the final step of Automata's processing, keeping the edited photos as RGB (8 bits/channel).

                Black white converter

The black and white conversion can be tuned by adjusting the RGB channel coefficient values. For the best result, the sum of the RGB channel percentage values should be 100%.

                File Operation Tools

                Copy and Move Files

The file operation tools in Automata include input file filtering by filename or type. File operations such as copy, move, and delete are available for both the original and processed files. Input and output folders can be set for file operations

                Copy and move files tool

                XMP-metadata

XMP-metadata can be included in the processed image [JPEG, TIFF, PSD] with XMP configuration in Automata Pro. The XMP data is read from the .xmp file and stored in the image.

                XMP-metadata tool

XMP metadata, or eXtensible Metadata Platform, is a standard for embedding metadata into digital media files, such as images or videos. This metadata can include information about the content of the file, the creator, and other details that can be useful for organizing and managing digital assets.

                Parallel Background Processing

With Automata Pro, each workflow is a separate process, allowing all image processing tasks to be done in the background without any manual intervention. The software automatically scans the input folder for new and changed files, saving processed files to the output folder of the workflow.

The ability to execute each workflow as a separate process offers numerous advantages. You can build new workflows and modify existing ones without affecting other workflows. If one workflow encounters a difficulty, different workflows continue to function normally. This makes Automata Pro an error-tolerant system that can continue to operate despite an error.

Automata Pro enhances background processing on multicore/multiprocessor computers, enabling faster and more efficient concurrent execution of multiple workflows.
